RAID 5

RAID 5 is a type of data storage configuration that combines three or more hard drives into a single logical volume, providing both data redundancy and improved performance.

RAID 5 layout

The data is striped across all drives in the array along with parity data. The parity data is used to provide redundancy and allows for recovery of data in case of a drive failure. If one drive fails, the parity data and the remaining drives can be used to reconstruct the lost data, ensuring data integrity and preventing data loss.
