A GPU, short for Graphics Processing Unit, is a specialized electronic circuit primarily designed to accelerate the rendering of images and videos on a computer or other electronic devices. GPUs are essential components in graphics-intensive applications, including video games, computer-aided design (CAD) software, video editing, and scientific simulations. The terms “Graphics card” or “video card” and “GPU” (Graphics Processing Unit) are often used interchangeably but they are distinct terms in the context of computer hardware. A graphics or video card refers to the physical hardware component installed inside a computer. It typically consists of a printed circuit board (PCB), GPU, video memory (VRAM), cooling system, and output ports.
